Boyd Holloway:  Photography
Boyd Holloway began his interest in photography early in life.  When he was in the sixth grade, his friend's uncle introduced him to the magic of printing his own photographs.  In the eighth grade he did his first image manipulation by switching heads in a photo of his sisters - one sister was getting married, the other was eight months pregnant.  In high school, the artist spiced up the school paper and yearbook with many manipulated images.

Holloway's professional career in photography began by working for a studio doing senior portraits for his high school while he was still enrolled.  For the past forty years he has been a self-employed professional photographer doing many types of images...often those that other photographers rejected.  Much of his business came as referrals from other photographers and often the first words from the client were, "I've been told that this could not be done but...".  He was hooked by the challenge to find a way to produce what the client wanted.

It comes then as not surprise that Holloway jumped into the digital aspect to photography when it was first introduced.  He could see the potential of not only manipulating images but also doing composite work and restoring old photographs.  The fact that one can print images on all sorts of surfaces with archival ink was additionally a bonus.

The rules of photography have now changed.  Holloway is no longer restricted from taking a photograph due to distracting elements or lighting problems....the subject now becomes one over which he has complete control.  Combining texture, graphics and other elements in the design of an image removes all limits to this artist's imagination.
