Caren Jones: Acrylics and Watercolors

When I watch shadows fall across a person's face or a plant slowly reaching up to the sky, then flower and wither, my mind seems to take hundreds of imaginary photographs. Much of my artwork is created by reflecting on these recorded moments and memories. My current work ties together the awe and respect I feel for the natural world with the playfulness and kindred feeling I find there. Each painting encompasses the tenderness and fragility found in every living being. It also is influenced by the spunk of a hopping baby goat, the absurdity of a protective chicken and the apparent playfulness of a dolphin darting around the waves of a boat. These emotions and impressions are what remind me that we, humans, are all an essential part of the amazing web that holds the environment and wildness together. My paintings express the admiration I have for our world and thankfulness for each day.
